Our family...

We have been married since June 2007. We live in our home in Chapin with our amazing, sweet daughter, Audrey, who was born in March 2011, and our clever dog, Betsy. This blog is a way to keep our out-of-state family and friends updated on our lives!

Welcome to the 2nd trimester!

This week begins my 14th week of pregnancy, which begins my 2nd trimester. Everything I have read tells me I should be getting my energy back and the nausea should be over (which it really has been). I am really hoping for the getting my energy back part! This past week has been horrible at school as far as exhaustion is concerned! I could barely walk around the room checking on my students without wanting to sit down and relax! I tried to nap almost daily and go to bed early, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Rewind to last weekend - Labor Day weekend! We really enjoyed the long weekend. My parents and grandparents came down to visit, and we put them to work! Dad and Jerry painted our baby's room (Dad called the color "chocolate milk" - I like that it's neutral), while Grandpa Max fixed our sliding screen door and helped our gutter/drainage situation some. Mom and Grandma helped our landscaping look much better and also polished our FREE crib (thanks to our wonderful neighbors, Charlie and Karen, who gave us their son's crib that looks like it's like new!) as well as the other new furniture we bought. We found an amazing deal on Craigslist for a changing table as well as a dresser! We weren't planning on buying both, but it was too good of a deal to pass up! Between all the work they helped us get done, we have what really looks like a baby nursery now! Walls are painted, crib's put together, and furniture is in the room! I am amazed at how much we have done this early! I know we'll be thankful later that we're done with that much already. We had a really nice visit with my family and are so thankful for their help!

This weekend, Jerry and I got work done around the house (Jerry cut the grass, I did laundry and cleaned), and then we watched football all day Satuday. We were thrilled to cheer on our Carolina Gamecocks who beat Georgia! Some neighbors, Chet and Karen, gave us our first Gamecock baby gift (pictured below), and we can't wait for our little one to watch football with us!
I love the little booties! And on the back, there's a football right on the behind!
This upcoming week, I have a doctor's visit Thursday. No ultrasounds planned or anything; just a checkup for the 14th week. I always look forward to the doctor appointments, though. It's reassuring to hear our doctor tell us that our baby is growing and developing just the way it should be.

Speaking of growing, I definitely can tell that I am! Though I wouldn't say I have the "bump" yet, I can no longer wear my regular clothes comfortably. Granted, I was already an overweight girl (just bein' honest!), so it almost just looks like I've gained weight. However, I can tell that I'm "sticking out" in just the right area. I know I'm supposed to get bigger, but I must say - I'm ready for it to look rounder, and not just like I'm fat. Ha! I'm sure soon enough I'll be wishing I looked like I do now!
