Our family...

My photo
We have been married since June 2007. We live in our home in Chapin with our amazing, sweet daughter, Audrey, who was born in March 2011, and our clever dog, Betsy. This blog is a way to keep our out-of-state family and friends updated on our lives!

The Dreaded Day Arrived

Today was the day I have been dreading pretty much ever since I discovered I was pregnant: the day I returned to work. Since March 15, I've been with Audrey every day. Sure, I've left her with my parents and Jerry's parents to have a date night, run an errand, etc., but she's never been away from me all day. To say I was dreading it seems to be an understatement. For over the past week, I've cried at least once each day. Just imagining the smiles, giggles, and moments I will be missing out on breaks my heart. Now, before I go on, I feel like I should say that Yes, I know that tons of mothers have to go through this all the time. And Yes, I know I was extremely fortunate to be able to spend the first (almost) 5 months of Audrey's life home with her. Yes, I know that it's wonderful that the person taking care of Audrey is our amazing neighbor and friend, so of course she's in good hands. So Yes, I know all those things. But honestly . . . does that make it any easier to hand my child over and walk out the door to go to work? NO!!! It sucks no matter what! It was awful leaving this morning! It did help, though, to receive this picture from Karen (our neighbor who is her sitter) in the middle of a meeting at school:

Having a great time at Mrs. Karen's!
I am happy to say that we both survived! I even kept it together at school (only cried in the car on the way!). Once I got home and got Audrey settled back in here, I stuck by her side all evening! We played, laughed, "talked," sang -- did it all! I even got an adorable video of her giggling like crazy (below). So, back to work tomorrow I go. Thanks to everyone who kept me in their prayers today as I went through this difficult, new experience. I felt the prayers and will continue to appreciate them as the school year begins!
