Our family...

We have been married since June 2007. We live in our home in Chapin with our amazing, sweet daughter, Audrey, who was born in March 2011, and our clever dog, Betsy. This blog is a way to keep our out-of-state family and friends updated on our lives!

Audrey's 2 month checkup (and shots!)

Today was Audrey's 2 month well visit at the pediatrician. I have been dreading this day since she was 2 weeks old because I knew today would be her first set of shots. Let me start by saying I know that there are lots of debates out there about immunizations and are they safe, etc. There are people that are totally against immunizing their kids, and that is their decision. I am pretty trusting when it comes to doctors, and when our pediatrician says, "I would never ask a parent to do something to their child that I wouldn't do or haven't already done to my own children," then I feel good about it. Our pediatrician's office is also very open about the fact that they are believers. Their website has scripture on it as soon as you go to it, and the bios on the doctors start off by telling readers what church their family attends. All of that combined makes me feel pretty good and trusting with Audrey's health care.
Happy, smiling girl in the waiting room. Not knowing what is coming!

So, I hate needles. I am a complete wimp when it comes to shots or needles of any kind, so I really hated the idea of watching my baby go through that. Sure enough, as soon as they pricked her, she started crying, and so did I! It killed me watching her in pain! Fortunately, she calmed down quickly once I could pick her up, and she was asleep before I even got out to the car!
Battle wound (one on each leg)

She survived her shots, and so did Mommy!
Since we've been home, she's had 2 doses of infant Tylenol, and she's slept a LOT. She was very fussy when she woke up in between naps earlier, but she just now woke up from another nap, and she's smiling and babbling! I hope she stays happy the rest of the night because I hate seeing her hurt! Thankfully, her first shots are over, and we both survived!

We have certainly got a big girl! At her appointment today, she weighed 12 lbs, 14.5 oz (93rd percentile!) and measured 23.5 inches long (90th percentile!). Our doctor was very happy with her weight gain and said she is doing great! We're so proud of our growing girl!
