Our family...

My photo
We have been married since June 2007. We live in our home in Chapin with our amazing, sweet daughter, Audrey, who was born in March 2011, and our clever dog, Betsy. This blog is a way to keep our out-of-state family and friends updated on our lives!

Another "First"

Today, Audrey had yet another "first" of many we will have the joy of sharing with her. At her 4 month checkup at the pediatrician today, I was told to go ahead and start her on rice cereal once a day. So this evening after Jerry and I finished our supper, Audrey had hers! I made it super thin as instructed, so I was preparing for quite a mess. I was thankful for the awesome feeding spoon I received as a gift from one of my baby showers because it pumped out a little bit at a time, which was way easier than trying to scoop a little of the extremely runny cereal out of a bowl each time. Surprisingly, Audrey didn't make too much of a mess! She actually did a pretty great job! She spit a bit back out, but overall, I was very impressed with how well she took food from a spoon, since she's used to either eating from me or a bottle! We captured this "first" on video, so take a look!

As far as her appointment today, we sure do have a big, strong, growing girl! Audrey now weighs 17 lbs!!! This puts her in the 97th percentile! Wow!!! She is also measuring 25.5 inches long! This puts her in the 90th percentile! Such a big girl! Our pediatrician says she is very happy with how much she's growing and how strong she is. She said she can't believe how well Audrey "stands" on her legs, and that she doesn't see many four-month-olds able to do that, so I am happy that she's developing well! Of course, after the checkup came the shots. Audrey was already very tired and ready for a nap, so she had been fussy with the doctor. Then, when the nurse came in with the needles, she was even more fussy! Fortunately, as soon as the shots were over and I could pick her up, she immediately calmed down and stopped crying. I was very happy that I was able to soothe her because I would have hated it for her if she just kept crying! When we got home, she took a nap. The rest of the day she has really been just fine! I gave her some Tylenol to help her legs not hurt, but she has been just as happy as usual, so we are very fortunate! Her next pediatrician's appointment is at 6 months old, and Daddy has to take her to that one, so he will get to experience the joyous shots then. As for today, we are just so happy to have a healthy baby girl!
First time in the high chair! Get those feet off the table, young lady!

"Mmm, not bad!"
